FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Which input is fed to the global IP Blacklist?

Our global IP Blacklist is fed through multiple trusted anti-spam databases and supplemented by BotShields own integrated Honeypot-network. Currently we operate 2 servers on every continent of the globe, which are designed to simulate weakspots and services. Those so called "honeypots" seem to be a vulnerable and worthwhile targets for hackers to attack.
If one of them tries to abuse the tempting weakspots, his IP address is logged and added to our Blacklist for at least 24 hours – so it cannot harm your server.

We are already working on an extended database for version 1.1, in which you will find helpful information about the every potentially threatening user-agent in detail. Please be patient, we will release this feature as soon as possible.
